Visit a real haunted house in St. Augustine, Florida

Twilight Tours take place every Friday & Saturday evenings

at the Ximenez-Fatio House Museum in October

Visit a real haunted house in St. Augustine on America's oldest street! There have been at least 13 people who have died in the Ximenez-Fatio House, built in 1798 in historic St. Augustine, Florida. Take a Twilight Tour every Friday and Saturday evening in October and the first weekend of November.

The 3rd Annual Twilight Tour focuses on Fatal Folklore. As the sun sets, it admittedly gets a little spooky at this former boarding house, located at 20 Aviles Street. Many came to stay at Miss Fatio’s Boarding House, but some never returned home. Hear the spookier side of the Ximenez-Fatio House Museum and learn about some of the more interesting guests who stayed at the boarding house, and the families who owned the property in the 200+ years it has been standing! From Spanish merchants to soldiers stationed in St. Augustine, to the single ladies who ran their businesses and raised their families here, this house has centuries of stories within its coquina walls. Guests may even have the chance to meet our spirit friend, Little Miss Madison, who likes to run up and down the stairs, move items in the museum, and play with a dollhouse located on the third floor.

Twilight Tour: Fatal Folklore is perfect for all ages who are looking for a St. Augustine fun, family-friendly nighttime activity. Each tour is approximately 45 minutes and takes guests through the beautiful 18th century home, where ythey will hear the stories and history of the house not normally heard on our daytime tour.

Reservations are required at

6 p.m., 7 p.m., and 8 p.m. each night: October 8-9, October 15-16, October 22-23, October 29-30, October 30, November 5-6

Lightner Museum invites St. Augustine residents and museum members to a Community Open House for a first look at two new exhibitions, Picturing a Nation: American Art from the Lightner Museum and Tom Schifanella: Faces of the Alcazar. The Community Open House will take place on October 28 from 5:30 p.m - 7:30 p.m.

Picturing a Nation: American Art from the Lightner Museum

October 29, 2021 – September 30, 2022:

Picturing a Nation is a major reinstallation of American paintings and sculpture from the Lightner Museum’s permanent collection. From America’s great vistas and natural wonders, to intimate scenes of St. Augustine, Picturing a Nation presents a vibrant vision of the country on a local and national scale through late-nineteenth and early twentieth century American art. The exhibition is supported by a grant from the St. Johns County Tourist Development Council.

Tom Schifanella: Faces of the Alcazar

October 29, 2021 – March 7, 2022:

Faces of the Alcazar presents a compelling insight into the lives of working-class employees at Henry Flagler’s Alcazar Hotel. Through large-format photographic prints, the exhibition documents the fragmentary clippings from early-twentieth century motion picture magazines pasted to the walls of the Alcazar staff quarters a century ago by the immigrant staff who lived and worked at the hotel. The crumbling remnants remain a haunting visual record of the dreams and aspirations of the forgotten individuals who served the wealthy visitors wintering in St. Augustine at the dawn of the twentieth century. Faces of the Alcazar is supported by a grant from the Dr. JoAnn Crisp-Ellert Fund at the Community Foundation for Northeast Florida.

In addition to exploring the museum’s new exhibitions, guests will be able to shop the museum’s updated and expanded Museum Store, and preview the newly renovated Radzinski Family Garden. The Lightner Museum Community Open House is a free event. Guests should enter through the museum’s main entrance.
